Why Get Involved

1

About 40 percent of children with food allergies have experienced a severe allergic reaction such as anaphylaxis.

2

Each year, millions of Americans have allergic reactions to their food resulting in 30,000 emergency room visits, 2,000 hospitalizations, and 150 deaths.

3

Researchers estimate that more than 26 million Americans have food allergies, including 5.9 million children under age 18. That’s 1 in 13 children, or roughly two in every classroom. About 30 percent of children with food allergies are allergic to more than one food.
